My Resume

Growing up I was like many young girls - as a logical extension of my love for animals, especially dogs, I wanted to be a veterinarian. The cost of higher education, coupled with the competition to get into vet school, squashed that dream for me. I opted for a BS degree in Microbiology instead.  Several years later, I pursued my Masters in Microbiology and Toxicology and attained an MBA. 

Over these many years, I have been blessed to share my life and heart with several dogs: 

• Burton, Labrador retriever who lived to almost 16 years old and never met a food or ball he didn't love. 🎾
• Maya, my first Mastiff, a gorgeous apricot brindle who passed at almost 10 from osteosarcoma (bone cancer). 
• Linus, my first experience with a human-aggressive, reactive dog. Linus changed me and left an immeasurable hole in my heart. 
• Sulley, named after the big blue monster in Monster's Inc, Sulley is one of the smartest Mastiffs I've ever had. While he acts like he's 5, he will be 10 this December. 
• Junior, despite Wobbler Syndrome and hip dysplasia, Junior is still the silliest, most lovable Mastiff on the planet. In addition to a head and bone to die for, Junior's temperament is what makes him a model for the Mastiff breed. I thank God for every day I am blessed with this boy in my life. Junior will be 8 this year. 

I want to serve large and giant breed dogs and the people who love them.  Having dedicated the better part of the last 15 years to the study of canine behavior, nutrition, and healthcare, my mission through Big Dog Mom™ and Dog Nailpro™ is to empower dog owners to become heroes in their dogs' lives without force, fear, or frustration.
